Day Tour to Islamic and Christian Cairo

Welcome to an exceptional journey through the Islamic and Christian history of the ancient city of Cairo! We will begin our tour in Islamic Cairo, where we will visit Al-Azhar Mosque, one of the oldest universities in the world and the most important center of Islamic education. Then we will wander through Al-Muizz Street, an open-air museum of Islamic architecture, where we will see the Sultan Qalawun Mosque and its school.

We cannot miss visiting the Citadel of Saladin, which overlooks Cairo and tells the story of an important era in Egypt’s history. Inside the Citadel, we will visit the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, a masterpiece of Ottoman architecture.

We will now move on to Coptic Cairo, where we will visit the Hanging Church, one of the oldest churches in Egypt, built over the gate of the Roman Fortress of Babylon. Then we will head to the Church of Abu Serga, which is believed to have sheltered the Holy Family during their journey in Egypt.

We will conclude our tour with a visit to the Coptic Museum, which houses a unique collection of Coptic artifacts that reflect the history of Christianity in Egypt.
